March update - newsletter numbers and product offer 🎟️
Also new guests warming up for the Effective Interviews 🤯
Hey 👋 Jorge here. Quick heads-up on the numbers of the newsletter, the new content coming up, and the products I am offering as part of the Effective Android initiative. Keep reading to discover how to join our exclusive Android community 🌟
📈 The newsletter
I am really happy about the current state of it. As you know, I kicked off the Effective Interviews ⚡️ a couple weeks ago, and all the Android engineers I contacted so far went instantly on board with the idea. These are the interviews available as of today:
⚡️ Effective Interviews #3 - Chris Banes (Airing next week)
⚡️ Effective Interviews #4 - ??? (To be announced)
Feedback has been great since day one. People seem to be loving these interviews, which makes me think that there was an actual need for content of this type in written format. Podcasts are great, but people like to read something from time to time.
Several widely known Android devs are already warming up for the weeks to come 🔥. They’ll come into play very soon. Looking forward to sharing their thoughts with this community. Don’t forget to subscribe to not miss the announcements. Also, follow me on Twitter.
About the numbers. We are more than 1300 newsletter members already. Here are the lifetime numbers. I’m flattered by the number of people that supports it every day.
At the same time, I am also in the process of polishing the Jetpack Compose internals book. New content is in the oven, which I’ll also introduce in this newsletter when it’s ready. The chapter about the Compose compiler is getting a full rewrite to make it more straightforward and easier to read. I’m pretty hyped about this update 📖
🎟️ A ticket to the exclusive Discord community
For a while, I only invited the course attendees to the Discord community. Now I have decided to also open it to any paid subscribers with a yearly subscription. They also deserve it, and I think it’s very positive to open the doors to a more diverse group of people and opinions.
We use the Discord community to discuss Jetpack Compose and other Android topics in a more familiar environment, and try to support each other. We share doubts and learnings, and also organize some little contests and activities from time to time. It’s a great way to motivate yourself to learn together with a group of people. I’ll be waiting for you there 🙋♂️
👨💻 The Jetpack Compose online training
The course is going great. I’ve added new slides, exercises, and recordings, and I’m preparing all the materials for the date. I forgot how much time recordings require 😅but I’m loving it so far.
The next cohort has ~20 people registered already. It starts on May 1 and has a duration of 8 weeks. The maximum number of attendees is 50. It usually fills up quickly, so my honest advice here is that you don’t wait too much in case it was on your mind. I’ll be there waiting for you 🙌
Engineers from several companies have taken this training already. Best way to know if you are interested: by reading their opinions.
